Building Resilient Alliances for Inclusion and Diversity (BRAID) develops a holistic, humanistic, and evolving ecosystem for geoscience education. Through collaboration across diverse institutions, we are committed to empowering underrepresented students and faculty, fostering a more equitable and inclusive future in the geosciences.
Our Mission
BRAID seeks to strengthen climate and marine science by fostering mutually beneficial connections between Minority Serving Institutions and Woods Hole research institutions. Our focus is on creating a two-way exchange that:
- Opens access for faculty and students at MSIs to Woods Hole resources
- Builds capacity in Woods Hole to create a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Transforms policies and culture at member institutions to sustain these new capacities
- Serves as a model for cross-cultural alliances throughout the geosciences

The BRAID team is a dedicated group of educators, researchers, and leaders from Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) and Primarily White Institutions (PWIs), working together to increase diversity and inclusion in geoscience education.
